Juggling the Joy of Summer with a Shift in Routine

Summer brings with it all the good stuff: sunshine, holidays, barbecues, beach days, longer evenings, and a much-needed break from the usual hustle. Whether you're off on holiday, managing six weeks of school holidays, or just enjoying lighter days and a looser schedule, it’s a season we all look forward to — and absolutely deserve.

But let’s be honest: as blissful as it is, summer can completely throw off our usual routines. That reliable structure — filled with regular fitness classes, consistent meals, sleep schedules, and healthy habits — often takes a backseat. And when it does, you might start to feel it in your body.

I often hear from clients who say, “I had the best holiday, but now I feel stiff, heavy, and totally unmotivated.” Sound familiar?

Here’s a little “what if” for you — and I don’t usually entertain many “what ifs,” but this one is worth it:
What if you could have both? The fun, the rest, the BBQs and beach time...and movement that keeps your body feeling good, light, and energised?

The good news is: you can. And it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Keep It Simple, Flexible & Fun

The key to staying active through the summer is keeping it doable:

  • Busy day? A few minutes of gentle mobility goes a long way.

  • Feeling energised? Slot in a quick core or strength burst.

  • No time at all? Do some breathwork before bed — and try to wind down at a decent time (your body will thank you).

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to holidays and routine shifts. But intentionally weaving in little moments of movement and stillness can keep you feeling great — physically and mentally — even when your schedule is all over the place.
